
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN AERIAL APPLICATION
~ Initial Agrichemical Rating
Course procedures for Pilots who wish to do
a Chemical Rating
To be able to achieve the pilot chemical
rating the pilot will have to complete the National
Certificate in Aerial Agrichemical Application.
To be able to be issued the above National
Certificate the pilot will have to complete the following:

Must hold a current GROWSAFE®
Introductory Certificate (Endorsed Ground Crew)
This is a prerequisite for the National Certificate.
The standard GROWSAFE®
Introductory Certificate is not the correct
certificate or course. A pilot must attend the approved
course which is the endorsed ground crew.

Must hold a current first aid certificate
including units 6401 & 6402.It is very important
that once you have completed your first aid course
that these two units standards are recorded onto the
NZQA Framework.

Must complete the self study guide questions and have
them returned to Educhem Ltd prior to attending
the two day course.

Must complete the Checklist & Questionnaire for
the Pilot Chemical Rating and have them returned to
Educhem Ltd prior to attending the two day
course.

Must attend the two day training course currently
been held at Omaka Aerodrome in Blenhiem.

Must complete the written assessment during and after
the two day course at Omaka and have them returned
to Educhem Ltd.

On completion of the above each pilot is required
to have a site visit by the trainer. As part of this
site visit the following will be completed:
- Checklist and questionnaire to be checked against
actual performance
- An oral question and answer relating to an actual
application
- Compliance with NZS8409:2004 NZ Standard for
the Management of Agrichemicals\
- General Health and safety procedures
- Marking and checking all written assessments

On completion of all the units that are required
to achieve the National Certificate in Aerial Agrichemical
Application and the units having been registered
with NZQA, Educhem will then apply to NZQA for the National
Certificate. Once we have that certificate we will produce
your log book sticker for the Initial Chemical Rating.
This sticker must then be put into your log
book by the approved trainer. This log book sticker
has a current life of three (3) years.
NB: Demonstration of flying
and aircraft are not part of the requirement for the National
Certificate in Aerial Agrichemical Application.

Cat instructor.
